EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Patricia Blackman, a Tenancy Specialist at SGCH will inform
the Committee on her new role working with Aboriginal tenants.
THAT the information received and noted.

REPORT DETAIL
Ms Blackman will share information about her role at the organisation, eligibility for tenants, affordable housing program, and Aboriginal housing strategies to enhance the sustainability of tenancies and how to support people along their housing journey.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Local NAIDOC Week celebrations were held from 6-11 July 2015. The Committee will be asked to provide feedback regarding the activities. This will enable us to continually improve the celebrations.
THAT the Committee’s feedback on the general administration of the program be noted.

Over 400 people attended Council’s NAIDOC Week celebrations for this year. The Committee’s feedback is sought on each activity including:
Opening Ceremony – Civic Theatre, Hurstville
Lime Kiln Bay Walk – Oatley Park
Book Reading – Library
Children activities - Child Care Centres
Aboriginal Art Workshop - Museum

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Council launched its Aboriginal Strategy during Reconciliation Week Celebration in May 2015. It is proposed that an Action Plan be developed from the Strategy.
THAT the Committee endorses an Action Plan for 2015/2016.

REPORT DETAIL
The Aboriginal Strategy has been developed in the context of Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2021 to enhance engagement with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Council launched its Aboriginal Strategy during Reconciliation Week Celebration in May 2015. The Strategy has objectives and strategies to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people. A plan of activities for the next 12 months is to be developed in consultation with the Committee.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hurstville museum staff Ms Birgit Heilman visited the Committee at the last meeting seeking Committee feedback on re-designing the Aboriginal Display at the Museum.
THAT the Committee provides further feedback on cultural content.

REPORT DETAIL
Ms Birgit Heilman visited the Committee twice since last year seeking the Committee’s advice on re-designing the Aboriginal panel at the museum. The Committee provided input on the proposed changes but there are still a few items that need the Committee’s feedback to incorporate into the exhibition display.
