EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The current membership of the Committee will expire prior to the Council elections to be held in September.

THAT this information be received and noted.


REPORT DETAIL

The Terms of Reference of the Access Advisory Committee provides that membership will be publicly advertised every four years (ie at the end of the term of Council).

The term of the current Council will end prior to the next General Election of Council which will be held on 8 September 2012 and following the meeting of the Advisory Committee scheduled for 14 August the membership of the current members on the Committee will cease.

Following the Council elections a Council meeting is scheduled for 26 September where Council will determine the Councillor representatives on various committees including the Advisory Committees and notification will be placed in the Leader newspaper inviting nominations for the various committees. The first meeting of the committees will be scheduled (probably in November) at which time the membership will be determined. This meeting will be the last for 2012 with the regular meeting cycle resuming in February 2013.

The purpose of this item is to consult with the Advisory Committee on the issue of attendance to the workshops and partnerships with other community centres and seniors groups.

The two workshop we ran in partnership with Roads & Maritime Services were not well attended. The workshops will now be run for existing seniors groups EG: Lionesses, Probus Clubs & Bowling Clubs.

REPORT DETAIL

Hurstville Council and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District ran free strengthening session for over 55s in Olds Park, Penshurst. There were over 10 sessions on offer, the response was very poor. We have now built a relationship with SESLHD and Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre to run these sessions twice a year. Kingsgrove already have a seniors exercise group that runs on a Monday and the session will run with this group.

The purpose of this item is to consult with the Advisory committee on the issue of design and partnerships to produce the Mobility Map. We will be discussing the development of a Mobility Map for the Hurstville CBD. I will be providing some examples of mobility maps to decide which design works best.
