CSC024-11KINGSGROVE COMMUNITY AID CENTRE
Report Author/sManager Community Services, Mr D Linden
FileSF11/77

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

At the last meeting of the Committee it was decided to follow up with the Manager of the Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre to discuss the concerns she had about drug paraphernalia being left around the premises.

AUTHOR RECOMMENDATION

THAT the police be requested to undertake frequent patrols of the areas particularly over weekends.

REPORT DETAIL

During an inspection of the premises in Smith Park the Manager advised that persons were frequenting the areas at the rear of the building which were more secluded and not open to visual surveillance from the street. Although no damage had been caused to date the centre staff regularly had to remove drug paraphernalia from around the centre in the children's playground at the rear.

It was decided to request police patrols of the area to try and discourage this activity.

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION - CSC

THAT the police be requested to undertake an assessment of the area and advise of any proposed actions.

RESOLUTION - CCL

THAT the police be requested to undertake an assessment of the area and advise of any proposed actions.
