In accordance with the legislative provisions the proposal has to be advertised for community feedback including from licensed premises in the area. Following the expiration of the consultation period a further report outlining any submissions received is required to be submitted to Council for consideration. Council can then determine if it proceeds with the AFZ. Should Council so decide then a further public notice is required to be published in the local newspaper before it takes effect. It is proposed that the second report be submitted to Council in May with the AFZ coming into effect by around mid-June should Council resolve to proceed. Criminal Activity at the East Quarter development.January & February 2010 saw a number of offences reported in the car park area of the premises, as well as suspicious activities around the area still to be developed.Car park is open plan with “car spaces” & storage bins throughout.A number of Steal from Motor Vehicle offences were committed in the garage in Feb. As a result S/C Napier (CPO) attended a meeting of the owners of units in the premises and made a security presentation to those in attendance. This was at the request of the complex management. Information was also given to these people in relation to this type of offence. Posters were prepared & given to the complex manager to be placed around the car park to raise awareness and try and minimise this type of crime.Management was spoken to on 20.04.2010 to see what the result of the meeting was in relation to the implementation of any security enhancements for the complex. It was indicated the Strata Committee from Aqua (95 Forest Road) had indicated they wished for enhancements to go ahead. The Strata Committees from Vantage (1 Jack Brabham Drive) were not prepared at this stage to go ahead with any enhancements until the Management looked into it further.RE: CSC 009 – 10Anti Social Behaviour – MortdaleOn 28 March, 2010 Police became aware a number of vehicles damage in Mortdale area. The damage was mostly to the external of the vehicle, bent wiper blades & external rear vision mirrors bent or broken.Police were aware there were two parties held in premises near to where the damage was caused. Police were informed, when they made inquiries at these premises, persons attending had been picked up, or left the premises by car. Both parties finished at midnight.19 vehicles which sustained damage that night were scientifically examined (fingerprinted) with no prints being found.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARYCouncil has received representations regarding anti-social behaviour in Egbastion ReserveAUTHOR RECOMMENDATIONTHAT the information be received and notedREPORT DETAILCouncil has received representations regarding alleged anti-social behaviour in Egbastion Reserve and requesting a review of safety issues in the area. The allegations relate to, inter alia, the consumption of alcohol and drugs leading to the creation of disturbances to the neighbourhood. Following receipt of the representations an on-site inspection was arranged between Council and the police with the resident and as a result the police have placed the area on the tasking list, maintenance on the existing lights in the reserve has been carried out and arrangements are being made with Energy Australia for the installation of a flood light on the existing light pole in Dennis Pl to illuminate the adjacent area of the reserve. It should be noted that several years ago Council resolved to prohibit the possession and consumption of alcohol in the reserve between the hours of sunset and sunrise and the signs erected at that time are still in place. It is understood that these incidents were a one-off and were not caused by patrons from nearby licensed premises. Inspection of the area showed some indication of possible activity.
