2. Parking Directional Signage – “That the Beverly Hills Mainstreet Committee implement the appropriate parking directional signage for Taronga Terrace, Morgan Street, Beresford Avenue, Frederick Street and Edgbaston Road”.

The Roads and Traffic Authority representative outlined the fact that a marked pedestrian crossing would require that the minimum warrant be met before the RTA would approve of such a pedestrian device. Council officers will carry out the appropriate vehicle and pedestrian counts, the results of which will form a further report back to the Traffic Committee for consideration at a future meeting.

SPEED MANAGEMENT:

A joint Councils and Georges River Police district project
The project will research the extent of speed related problems around the vicinity of schools. This is an Enhanced Enforcement Program.

Speed counts were conducted during 40km school zone times both morning and afternoon
Two planning meetings have been attended with the Road Safety Officer’s involved to plan the communication strategies. A letter to principals was drafted as well as a media release and each Road Safety Officer will tailor these to meet their own Council requirements.

Parking kits re-ordered as fines insert information was out of date.

DRINK DRIVING:

Intox Rock ‘n’ Road youth drink driving project:
Local high school students (Years 9–10) invited to participate in a song writing competition and will perform at a concert on 15 June in front of peers, family and judges. The lyrics need to focus on the education that will be provided by the Road Safety Officers in the St George Region and the St George Alcohol and Other Drugs Service with an emphasis on strategies not to drink and drive.
One hour education sessions were provided by myself and the St George Alcohol and Drugs Service to the following schools:
