December 1995 | Purchase of photo of John Hamilton, VC, World War 1 and 11 Veteran. Lived in Penshurst and received the Victoria Cross from his duty at Lone Pine. Photo will be housed in Council's Main Library and Archival & Local Research Centre. |
1995 | Council donated ten (10) trees to the Banks Australia Remembers Committee for planting in schools within the Banks Electorate (Council Meeting 23rd November, 1994). |
1995 | Oral History - The collecting of 20 WWII memoirs of local people's experiences in WWII both at War and on the homefront. The collection will become part of the Hurstville City Library's local studies collection and made available to students, researchers and local people. |
1995 | Oral History - Organisation of a meeting between Peakhurst High School Year 8 History students and eight local residents at which the students recorded their wartime memories. |
1995 | Operation Restoration - New Work Opportunities. A program for employment of people to specifically assist in restoration of local memorials, remembrance driveways and memorial parks. Council employed five people under this program to work specifically on the Mortdale Park Memorial Restoration project. |
