OPENING

The Mayor, Councillor Kevin Greene, opened the meeting at 6.33pm.

 

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

The Mayor acknowledged the traditional custodians of the land, the Biddegal people.

CCL035-21       Notice of Intention to Issue a Performance Improvement Order - Georges River Council

(Report by General Manager)

Recommendation: Councillor Tegg and Councillor Agius

That the Council’s Mayor and General Manager write to the Minister for Local Government, the Hon. Shelley Hancock MP on or before close of business 25 June 2021 in response to the Notice of Intention to Issue a Performance Improvement Order dated 10 June 2021 (Notice) advising that the Council:

(a)       has considered the Notice;

(b)       requests that any Performance Improvement Order issued upon the Council be varied to that contained in the Notice to include:

(i)      a reference to those Councillors whose repeated behaviour has  necessitated the inclusion of proposed action 1 in Schedule 2 of the proposed Performance Improvement Order; and

(ii)     reference to work already undertaken by Council, including Council staff, in relation to proposed action 5 in Schedule 2 of the proposed Performance Improvement Order;

(c)       otherwise will submit to the terms of a Performance Improvement Order issued in accordance with the Notice with those suggested variations.

AMENDMENT: Councillor Landsberry and Councillor Hindi

Against the Amendment: The Mayor, Councillor Greene, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Agius, Councillors Elmir, Grekas, Katris, Konjarski, Liu, Symington and Tegg.

 

On being put to the meeting, voting on this Amendment was five (5) votes FOR and nine (9) votes AGAINST. The Amendment was LOST.

Against the Motion:  Councillors Badalati, Hindi, Landsberry, Payor and Wu.

 

On being put to the meeting, voting on this Motion was nine (9) votes FOR and five (5) votes AGAINST. The Motion was CARRIED.
