Mr Scott Andrew opened the meeting with Acknowledgment of the traditional custodians of the land on which the meeting was being held as the Biddegal people and paid respect to Aboriginal Elders past, present and emerging

Committee Recommendation

That the Minutes of the Community Development and Services Advisory Committee held on 13 February 2017 be confirmed as adopted by Council on 6 March 2017.

COM010-17       Community Strategic Planning

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the Committee received and noted the report on Council’s Community Strategic Planning; and

(b)     That Committee members provide feedback on the draft community strategic planning documents currently on exhibition via the community consultation sessions and/or formal submissions on behalf of their respective organisations.

COM011-17       Georges River Council Disability Inclusion Action Plan

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the Committee received and noted the report on Council’s Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017 – 2021; and

(b)     That Committee members provide feedback on the Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017 – 2021 currently on public exhibition via formal submissions.

COM012-17       Committee Key Priority Areas

Committee Recommendation

(a) That the Committee agreed to focus on Inclusiveness as a key priority area;

(b) That the Committee establish a working group to review Council’s Community Strategic Planning to ensure the model of engagement used is inclusive of the wider community;

(c) That Ms Rosemary Bishop will draft an agenda for the working group’s first meeting to be circulated to Committee members via Mr Scott Andrew; and

(d) That the Committee work towards an inclusivity strategy that highlights the work that Council and community organisations are doing to promote inclusiveness, with the potential to promote inclusivity through events, national days and culminate in an annual awards presentation.

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the Committee received and noted the Project and Event Updates: programs in development report.

(b)     That the Committee provide feedback on any projects in development for further                                               consideration by Council officers.
