(a) That the request for a pedestrian crossing in Forest Road, near Ponderosa Place Lugarno be denied as it does not meet the RMS warrants (b) That the request for a pedestrian crossing in Forest Road, near Koorabel Street, Lugarno be denied as it does not meet the RMS warrants (c) Further that Mr David Coleman, MP, Member for Banks be advised of Council’s decision.

TAC080-16 Forest Road Hurstville - Proposed Road Closure for Lunar New Year Street Festival (Report by Traffic Engineer, Ben Liddell) |
a) That the proposed temporary closure of Forest Road between Queens Road and Treacy Street, Hurstville from midnight Friday 3 February 2017 to 8:00pm Saturday 4 February 2017 to facilitate the 2017 Hurstville Lunar New Year Street Festival be approved subject to RMS and Police consent. b) That Council engage a traffic control contractor to prepare a Traffic Management Plan and obtain a Road Occupancy License for the proposed closure of Forest Road, Hurstville. As a part of the Traffic Management Plan, Hurstville Bus Interchange in Woodville Lane be closed and the existing bus stops within the interchange be relocated by extending the following Bus Zones within Hurstville CBD: i. Extend the Bus Zone on the southern side of Barrett Street, Hurstville 15 metres west. ii. Extend the Bus Zone on the northern side of Barrett Street, Hurstville 15 metres west. iii. Extend the Bus Zone on the southern side of Crofts Street, Hurstville 12 metres east. iv. Install a 60 metre Bus Zone on the Southern side of Cross Street between The Avenue and Park Road, Hurstville.
c) That the Traffic Management Plan and the Road Occupancy License be submitted to RMS, Police and Council for approval. d) That Council submit a Special Events Clearway Application to the Transport Management Centre (TMC) requesting a Special Event Clearway to be installed on Forest Road and Queens Road Hurstville between Bridge Street and Hudson Street, Hurstville from 7am to 4pm on Saturday 4 February 2017. e) That emergency services, bus operators and St George Cabs be notified of the proposed closure of Forest Road, Hurstville for the 2017 Hurstville Lunar New Year's Street Festival. f) That Punchbowl Bus Company and Sydney Buses be requested to provide a ‘Bus Director’ to direct buses and passengers to the temporary bus stops allocated for the duration of the festival. g) That Bus Companies be requested to advise the affected bus drivers of the proposed closure and alternate bus stops and bus routes on Saturday 4 February 2017. h) That a temporary No Stopping restriction be installed on the south western side of Dora Street, between MacMahon Street and Queens Road, Hurstville for the duration of the Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday 4 February 2017. i) That the Taxi Rank in Forest Road, Hurstville be relocated to Woodville Street, Hurstville for the duration of the festival. Appropriate signage be installed advising that the taxi rank has been relocated to Barratt Street, Hurstville. j) Further that all business owners along Forest Road and Queens Road be notified of the proposed closure of Forest Road and proposed Special Events Clearway restrictions for the 2017 Hurstville Lunar New Year Street Festival.
