Recommendation

That the recommendations contained within the minutes of the Georges River Traffic Advisory Committee Meeting held on 3 September 2019 be adopted by Council.

 

Executive Summary

 

1.      The Minutes of the Georges River Traffic Advisory Committee Meeting held on 3 September 2019 are submitted to the Assets and Infrastructure Committee for consideration and to Council for adoption.

 

Background

 

2.      The Traffic Advisory Committee Meeting of 3 September 2019 was held at Georges River Civic Centre commencing at 10.00am.

 

Financial Implications

 

3.      Budget allocation

 

a.      RMS Traffic Facilities Grant            $400,000

b.      Bus Stop Upgrade Program            $60,000

 

4.      Balance to date

 

a.      RMS Traffic Facilities Grant            $350,000

b.      Bus Stop Upgrade Program            $60,000

 

5.      Estimated cost of works recommended by the Traffic Advisory Committee Meeting of 3 September is $127,200.  Dissection: $17,200 to be allocated from the RMS Traffic Facilities Grant and the Woniora Road pedestrian crossing requires additional non-budgeted funds of approximately $110,000 to complete the project.

Recommendation

(a)     That in accordance with Section 47(f)(2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1993, authority be granted for the land described as Lot 94 Section 2 in DP 5337 and Lot 21 Section 2 in DP 5337 forming part of Cross Street, Hurstville and Lot 1 in DP 1242651 known as 75 Louis Terrace, Hurstville to be dedicated as public road by the placement of a notice in the NSW Government Gazette under Section 10 of the Roads Act 1993.

(b)     That the General Manager be authorised to execute all documentation, and authority be granted to affix the Common Seal of Council to the Plan of Dedication or any other documentation required to give effect to this resolution.

 

 

Executive Summary

1.      Council has identified a number of land parcels required to be dedicated as public road.

2.      Under Section 47(f)(2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1993, community land can be dedicated as Public Road for the purpose of widening an existing public road.

3.      Approval is now sought to undertake this process.

 

Background

4.      Council officers have identified a number of land parcels required to be dedicated as road under Section 10 of the Roads Act 1993.

5.      The parcels identified as Lot 94 Section 2 in DP 5337 and Lot 21 Section 2 in DP 5337 forming part of Cross Street, Hurstville and Lot 1 in DP 1242651 known as 75 Louis Terrace, Hurstville have been identified as requiring dedication.

6.      Lots 94 Section 2 in DP 5337 and Lot 21 Section 2 in DP 5337 are already formed roads, being part of Cross St Hurstville, between Hudson and Wright Streets Hurstville.

7.      Lot 1 in DP 1242651 was dedicated to Council with title being obtained as community land, with the intention to dedicate the land as road for the purpose of widening Louis Terrace, Hurstville, to allow access to the adjoining park and neighbouring properties.

8.      The owner of 1 Edith St, Hurstville was granted access by Council over this parcel in 1975.

9.      Under Section 47(f)(2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1993, community land can be dedicated as Public Road for the purpose of widening an existing public road.

 


 

Financial Implications

10.    Costs include a Plan of Dedication and placement of a notice in the NSW Government Gazette.

 

Risk Implications

11.    No risks identified.

 

Community Engagement

12. Community engagement will be conducted through the placement of a Notice in the NSW Government Gazette.
