Recommendation

(a)     That Georges River Council’s Major Events Advisory Committee receives and notes this report on the upcoming 2017 Magic of Christmas event to be held at Carss Bush Park on 9 December 2017.

 

Executive Summary

1.   Magic of Christmas at Carss Bush Park is an early evening event for families with young and school aged children.

 

2.   The event will feature the much loved singer and actor Jay Laga’aia, as well as singers, dancers, a very special visit from Santa Claus and for the first time, concluding with a spectacular fireworks display.

 

3.   A sponsorship prospectus has been distributed to the community and previous sponsors for consideration. A copy is attached with this report.

Recommendation

That Georges River Council’s Major Events Advisory Committee (MEAC) receives and notes this report on the upcoming 2018 Georges River Council Lunar New Year Festival.

 

Executive Summary

 

1.   Georges River Council will welcome the Year of the Dog at the 2018 Lunar New Year Festival which will be jam-packed with a range of events celebrating Lunar New Year and the diversity and harmony of the Georges River community.

Thousands of residents will again enjoy street fairs, workshops, exhibitions and activities that showcase the diverse way in which Asian cultures celebrate this very special time of the year.

2.   Proposed 2018 Lunar New Year Festival dates:

2018 Georges River Council Lunar New Year Festival (Hurstville)

Date: 10 February 2018

Time: 10.00am-4.00pm

Location: Forest Road, Hurstville

 

2018 Georges River Council Lunar New Year Festival (Kogarah)

Date: 22 February 2018

Time: 6.00pm – 8.30pm

Location: Kogarah Town Square, Kogarah

 

3.   A sponsorship proposal has been developed for this event and a copy is attached to this report.

 

4.   It is proposed a sponsorship announcement of Major Summer Events – Media launch will be held as follows:

Location: Club Central, Hurstville

 

5.   An Expressions of Interest Public Notice has been developed and circulated to call for stallholders and entertainers for the upcoming 2018 Georges River Council Lunar New Year Festival. This is occurring via the following communication channels including Council’s website, and a public notice in the St George Leader which was published in the 18 October 2017 addition. Expressions of Interest will close on 24 November 2017, and the results will be presented to the MEAC at a future meeting.

Recommendation

That Georges River Council’s Major Events Advisory Committee (MEAC) receives and notes this report on the upcoming 2018 Australia Day Festival to be held at Carss Bush Park on 26 January 2018.

 

Executive Summary

1.   To celebrate Australia Day 2018, Georges River Council will host the much-loved Australia Day event in Carss Bush Park, Carss Park which will again be packed with plenty of fun, entertainment and activities. This family-friendly event attracts over 25,000 residents to one of the most beautiful settings in the Georges River Local Government Area.

With official proceedings as well as a Citizenship Ceremony, Australia Day Ambassador visit, a huge line-up of performers on stage, food, children’s activities and market stalls in addition to amusement rides and a fireworks finale at 9.00pm, this is a free family event that should not be missed.
