Committee Recommendation

That the Minutes of the Community Development and Services Advisory Committee held on 10 April 2017 be confirmed as adopted by Council.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Community and Culture

COM015-17       Grant Programs

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the report presented to the committee in relation to Council’s grant programs be received and noted.

 

 

COM016-17       Disability Inclusion Action Plan

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the report be received and noted by the committee.

(b)       That the Committee endorses Council’s decision to allocate additional funding for the delivery of the commitments identified in the Disability Inclusion Action Plan (2017-2021). 

 

 

COM017-17       Multicultural Reference Group

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee endorses 14 out of the 16 received nominations to be recommended for membership of the newly formed Multicultural Reference Group, as per the maximum number permitted in the draft Terms of Reference.

(b)     That the representatives of the following cultural/social community groups and community organisations be put forward as members of the Multicultural Reference Group: Chinese; Greek; Italian; Macedonian; Indian; Nepalese; Kytherian Association of Australia (Greek); Indonesian; South Pacific Islander; Advance Diversity Services; NSW Police; Schools Engagement; Kogarah Community Services; and 3Bridges Community.

(c)     That it is noted that the recommendations exclude the nominations of representatives from the St George Women's Interfaith Network and TAFE NSW. The rationale for the exclusion is based on the fact that both of these organisations have representation on other Council Committees.

(d)     That a letter of membership acceptance be sent out to successful members inviting them to the first meeting of the new Multicultural Reference Group in August 2017, pending Council  endorsement.

 

 

COM018-17       Project and Event Reports

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the Project and Events report is received and noted by the Committee.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

COM019-17       Upcoming Project and Events Reports

(Report by Coordinator Community Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the Upcoming Project and Events report is received and noted by the Committee.

(b)     That the Committee provides feedback on any projects in development for further                                                         consideration by Council officers.

 

 

COM020-17       General Business

(Report by Manager Community and Cultural Development)

Committee Recommendation

(a)     That the following items be tabled for the Committee’s consideration and feedback.

 

1.         Georges River Council Strategic Planning – presentation by Jessica Lee, Senior Corporate Planner

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee provides feedback and input on the draft Community Strategic Plan.

 

2.         Penshurst Park Youth Centre – draft venue plans for review

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee is consulted to provide further input on the models of operating and managing the Centre.

   

3.      White Ribbon Day – march against Domestic Violence proposed event

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee supports Council’s plans to develop an event to mark national White Ribbon Day in November. 

 

4.      Anti-Poverty Week event proposal – 15 to 21 October 2017

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee supports Council’s plans to promote and provide assistance to a community-run event to mark Anti-Poverty Week in October.

 

5.      Inclusivity Terms of Reference

Committee Recommendation

(a)       That the Committee further review the draft Inclusive Community Terms of Reference and its objectives.

 

(b)       That the Committee acknowledge “inclusivity” as a key focus and use the Inclusive Community Terms of Reference as a guiding principle underpinning its future recommendations.
